You hit the nail on the head with this one! Exactly my feelings about Instagram the last couple of years.

Couldn’t agree more — IG is laden with links and ego from Everyman experts. Loving the creativity of substack and hoping brands and influencers don’t creep in…

Hey Brooks! Your comment in Notes regarding Instagram caught my eye. I am thinking about reviving an old account there, but now I don't know. I personally feel the same as you, but I think it is where part of my target audience is... namely young women.

I get it. It's become a part of our fabric. It feels like a necessity. I think rather than abandoning it altogether, it's best to just reconsider the relationship and develop new rules of engagement.

I completely agree with your thoughts- instagram feels like bragging. Yours was my first paid substack and now I have a few others. It's much better way to share with your community

Really excited to hear your thoughts on Puglia. It's such a "choose your own adventure" part of Italy. My hope is the many options will keep it from being overrun. We went in Aug '22 and loved it (especially the red shrimp) https://snackventures.substack.com/p/no-ordinary-prawn

Had been feeling the same way and Substack was there all along just waiting for a commitment. IG remains a great distribution tool if used correctly, but here is definitely where the good stuff is. Glad you’re finding a rhythm, look forward to much more from you Brooks.

Truth. Can we all just regress a bit? forget about #'s. Travel or be with your people, environment without feeling the tug to "document" (while missing the moment) "everything". I'll resubscribe and send you a "Calling Card"! (because Kentucky loves Kentucky & only a native can say that)

100% true, they've ruined Insta in search of the dollar. There's very little inspo anymore, Substack is so much better and so much less cringy. Enjoy your vacation and always love your tips!
