I’m a sucker for stories about restaurant music. Loved this piece from FT “How to Spend It” about creating playlists for restaurants. It includes the playlist the late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto created for Kajitsu. I love this story - he loved to eat there but hated the music, so he created a playlist for them. I love to go on a long forest walk and throw this on the headphones. Check it out here:
Currently scheming on a new frozen drink for my restaurant Little Jack’s Tavern. I’m thinking a Frozen Greyhound. Perhaps with a touch of Aperol. (The people love Aperol.) Simple, old school, tasty. Thoughts?
I wanna hang in Josh Brolin’s Malibu pad, below. I feel like we could be pals. After reading this piece I went down a Brolin-sized rabbit hole. I even rewatched Sicario. Did you know before he was in ‘No Country for Old Men’ (a brilliant role) he had effectively given up on acting? He was trading stocks full time. Go, Josh.
Love, love, love aperol! It sounds delicious!
Re Josh Brolin, just finished listening to his interview on Smartless, the Jason Bateman/Will Arnett/Sean Hayes podcast. It's wonderful.
