Things I Like
Not not a gift guide
My wife asked me why I didn’t put a gift guide together for this newsletter. I think the whole gift guide thing can be nice, but so much of the growing gift guide complex is underpinned by affiliate links, which, right or wrong, always makes me question the integrity of the list. (That being said, there are some people doing this very well. Better than everyone else, in my opinion.)
For a moment, I thought I would recount the story of how I was asked to be on Southern Charm many years ago, and why I said “no,” which would be a much better read than a gift guide. But I thought better of it, because many of those cast members are my customers, and I’m not in the business of shitting on other people’s livelihoods.
Instead, I’m writing a very simple post today, while I put the finishing touches on a really tasty recipe that is perfect for this holiday season. Instead of a gift guide - because, let’s be honest, gift giving is very personal and there are thousands of you reading this, and I don’t have the faintest idea what you should get for your partner/boss/sibling/child - I’m just going to list some things I like - both to give and receive.
Most of these would make a lovely gift for the right person.
