I’m a power user of Shazam - it’s one of my favorite tools. I’m still amazed at the technology that enables me to hoist my phone in the air in a loud, crowded restaurant, while a song that is playing on a distant speaker is captured, analyzed, and fed back to me. As a music lover this miracle of engineering continues to thrill.
Over the years I’ve begun to use the app as an audible scrapbook. I’ll use it anytime a song catches my ear and load it into a playlist titled for that place. When I’m home, it’s a lovely way to reconnect with that time and place.
Typically I’ll keep these playlists private. They aren’t edited in the same way my public playlists might be, and often there is no through line. It’s just a snapshot of music I heard in a variety of spaces and places.
I’d encourage you to do the same. These songs capture a moment in time, a memory, a mood. It’s a great way to reconnect with a place when you’re long gone, back at home, and immersed in your routine.
Keeping that in mind, I wanted to share the songs I captured while I was in Copenhagen. I hope you enjoy, and maybe there are a few tracks new to you, as well.
Love this!
This was an excellent piece. What a wonderful idea and way to remember traveling!
