These days, if someone asks me where my favorite restaurant is, I tell them it’s my house. There is a season for everything, you see, and in our family, it’s a season of staying in.
As someone who makes a living in the restaurant business I should be the last guy encouraging you to stay home. If you don’t eat in my restaurants, then I don’t eat. But as an advocate for living well, I feel obliged to champion just how great it can be to stay put.
Perhaps having returned home from an extended summer trip plays a part. We got our ya-ya’s out, and ate too many meals at a table other than our own. Now that we’re back, we’re really luxuriating in a house we love. There are no lines, no reservations. Whatever you’re in the mood for is exactly what’s on the menu. The playlist is the best you’ve ever heard, and the lighting is soft and flattering.
