Happy Monday. I’m feeling a nice dose of writers block today, so I will serve up a proper post later this week. In the meantime, some promising links and other thoughts from my corner of the universe.
I got a kick out of this comment on my Instagram last week. I love Keith McNally’s restaurants, but the guy can be a real boner sometimes. In fairness, I went back and read my post, and yea - it’s a bit clunky.
I love the idea of AirBNB but I’ve had so many shit experiences (mostly stateside), it’s not my first go-to when I’m planning a trip. (We like Kid & Coe.) That being said, I discovered Silk & Grape last week - for 10 euros they’ll send you their list of the best AirBNB’s across the globe. It’s a great edit, and if you’re traveling overseas anytime soon, I’d take the plunge.
Why don’t more people talk about Live Auctioneers? Is the secret not out yet? Are they gatekeeping? This is the site most of my friends in the design business use. I’ve bid on a few things over the years, but I’m too lazy to track it with the regularity it requires. But I’d bet most of the sexy things you see on 1st Dibs came from Live Auctioneers first.
D.C. is an amazing restaurant town. I’ve been traveling there regularly for over a decade. I loved reading the Times’ ‘25 Best Restaurants in Washington D.C. Right Now.’ We are in town this weekend to watch my older son row for his high school, so this hit at the perfect time. (I’ve been to lots of these spots, and can confirm it’s a great list.)
Boat shoes are having a moment. I’d go left of center and grab these instead.
We are in the final stages of several new releases from Jack Rudy Cocktail Co. I’m so excited for them all. Here’s a little peek at one of them. Tennis, anyone?
Keith McNally is a nut! So entertaining. Love your newsletter!
Kid & Coe and Silk & Grape look awesome - thanks for the great tips. Will use on future family trips.
The Yuketen camp mocs are very cool, but price is pretty steep…Rancourt offers substantively the same Made in USA shoe for ~50% of the cost.
