Hi there - I’m sending out this dispatch to my full subscriber list (paid and non-paid) as a reminder that if you’ve signed up for the free newsletter, I appreciate the support, but you won’t be getting anything. (Long ago I decided to stop doing things for free, a common expectation of folks in the hospitality business.)
If you'd like to receive my weekly dispatch, please upgrade to a paid subscription. The good news is: you can always cancel. (And you get access to all past newsletters via an updated archive.)
I digress.
This is a little mid-week endorsement of my favorite non-alcoholic beverage around the house.
I’m a huge fan of the Waterloo sparkling waters. They are the bold, brash, intensely flavored nephew of the faint, whisper, barely-there flavors of La Croix.
My favorite Waterloo flavor is Coconut, but I love to use the Lemon-Lime as a vessel to make a “sort of Celery Soda” with TART Celery Vinegar. (It’s like a non-sweet Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray Soda.)
I found out about TART through the Cervo’s Instagram; it’s one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. They pivoted to a neighborhood grocer during the pandemic, and I still follow along for their banging list of pantry essentials, wine suggestions, and product choices.
For my version, I pop a cold seltzer, take a juicy swig, and then pour in an ounce of so of the Celery Vinegar. It’s fresh, bright, and wildly refreshing.
Cheers!
