Hello, readers. Please forgive my brief disappearance. I spent last week on Spring Break in The Bahamas. Harbour Island, specifically. And now, I’d like to tell you about it.
I’ve encountered a number of Harbour Island guides, and this was my first visit, so I did a bit of research before arriving. I was able to glean a bit of intel from each one, but I really found was that no one has really covered the nuance of this special place as it deserves to be covered. What I expected versus what I experienced were quite different, I found.
We were invited there by our dear friend Olivia Rae James. She’s spent a lot of time on the island as one of the top wedding photographers in the country, and she spearheaded a trip for five families to spend spring break together. She’s a total talent and a beautiful host, and really spearheaded a lot of the details of our visit. Her guidance was crucial to our first experience of this beautiful place.
I’d love to provide a bit more color for you - a proper guide to Harbour Island. I spent an entire week on its tiny 3 mile footprint and spent a lot of time asking questions, turning down untrodden roads, exploring the backstreets, and connecting with locals. Being a curious traveler has always served me up a lot of joy and discovery.
I hope this will give you a little sense of that discovery, as well.
